ArcGIS Layer for Bing maps roads, imagery

by Robin McNeely last modified 2009-10-07 12:11

Users running ArcGIS Desktop 9.3.1 can now use Microsoft's Bing maps roads and aerial imagery layers (.lyr) files in their projects.  The ISU floating license server supports Bing maps, although stand-alone versions of ArcGIS do not yet have the capability.  Users can either download the layer files themselves from ESRI at http://resources.esri.com/help/9.3/arcgisonline/about/start.htm#premium_virtual_earth.htm or use the layers files from our GISF public data server. The public data server can be found at \\pub.gis.iastate.edu\pub in the ISUGIS folder.  For access off campus, the location would be \\ftp.gis.iastate.edu\pub.

Users running ArcGIS 9.3 will need to upgrade to 9.3.1; to request that software please email Kevin Kane at kkane@iastate.edu.
